Innovation in surgery was the them in a remarkable gathering of minds at the 2nd Pan-Arab Women Physician association Conference and the 1st Kuwaiti Women Physicians Conference. OpenSourceResearch Collaboration (OSRC), in partnership with the British Journal of Surgery (BJS), hosted a thought-provoking session in which innovation in surgery was discussed.
The session kicked off with an inspiring BJS Lecture by Alaa El-Hussuna, titled “The Roadmap to Innovation in Surgery.” After the lecture the top five scientific abstracts were presented, each showcasing good research project. The competition ended by the announcement of the BJS Prestigious Award winner. This year’s honor went to Arian Salahi (Iran) and his team for their work on “LLM-based Tool for Merging Multiple Guidelines: Development and Evaluation on Inflammatory Bowel Disease.” Their research impressed both the jury and the audience, underlining the power of technology in shaping the future of medical guidelines.
The session sparked dynamic discussions, reflecting the region’s growing thirst for knowledge and scientific advancement. It sent a strong message to policymakers—the momentum is here, and now is the time to invest in research and innovation.
