Research Skills for Young Researchers in Low- and Middle Income Countries

OpenSourceResearch collaboration continued its educational program with a new workshop for young researchers in low-and middle-income countries. The one-day workshop was held in Al-Najaf-Iraq the 10th March 2022.

One of the aims of OpenSourceResearch is to reduce the expanding gap between developed and developing countries. This can be achieved through continuous education of researchers and to-be researchers from LMICs.

The inclusion of LMICs in generating scientific knowledge will increase generalizability of research results.

The workshop is a collaboration between OpenSourceResearch orgnaisation and Al-Kufa  University in Iraq.

The subjects covered in this workshop were:

  • Scientific thinking
  • Basic and applied research
  • Open source intelligence
  • Using the available resources to conduct research

The workshop was included open discussions and group exercises.

65 participants from different disciplines including engineers, students at different stages of education and physicians.

The enthusiasm for this workshop was amazing. Participants worked in small groups to explore open source research concept.

The workshop was dynamic with many interaction sessions, lively discussions and group exercises. The innovation in clinical research was carefully “dissected” during this workshop.
