The OpenSourceResearch team made a significant contribution to this year’s National Congress of Surgery, organized by the Romanian Society of Surgery. Held at the Casino Sinaia International Conference Center, the event brought together leading surgical professionals from across the country to discuss advancements, challenges, and the future of the field.
OSRC’s participation centered on a core mission: raising awareness and sparking actionable dialogue around the implementation of artificial intelligence in surgical practice. In a presentation that drew considerable attention, the team moved beyond theoretical concepts to explore practical applications—from intraoperative decision support to predictive analytics and post-operative care optimization.
What followed were good and productive discussions that extended well beyond the formal session. Surgeons, researchers, and innovators engaged with OSRC representatives on topics ranging from data privacy and algorithmic transparency to the integration of AI tools into existing clinical workflows. The exchange underscored a growing consensus: AI is no longer a distant prospect but an emerging reality that the surgical community must actively shape.
The congress, presided over by Prof. Dr. Viorel Scripcariu (President of the Romanian Society of Surgery), provided an ideal platform for this exchange. OSRC extends its gratitude to the organizers and to every participant who contributed their perspectives and questions.
